FAQs

Phoenix 1.3 Rooftop Tent

1. Will the Phoenix 1.3 fit my vehicle?

Most likely, yes — the Phoenix 1.3 is designed to fit most vehicles with solid roof racks or crossbars. Before purchasing, make sure you check your vehicle's dynamic and static roof load ratings to confirm it can support the 70.8kg tent plus any gear you add. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out and we’ll help you figure it out.

2. How easy is it to set up?

Super easy. Just unlock the latches, give the assist handle a push, and the gas struts do the lifting for you. You’ll be fully set up in under a minute — it’s quick and smooth, even solo. Poles are included for the rear door and rainfly where needed, but the main setup is nearly automatic.

3. What’s it made from?

The Phoenix is built tough. It features a lightweight aluminium honeycomb panel shell and 300gsm blackout ripstop canvas. Durable, weather-resistant, and made for real Australian conditions.

4. Is it waterproof?

Absolutely. The canvas and shell both have a 3000mm+ waterproof rating, keeping you dry even in heavy rain. No leaks, no damp bedding.

5. What’s the mattress like?

You’ll sleep well. The Phoenix includes a 75mm high-density memory foam mattress — full length, non-deforming, and way more comfortable than the usual foam slabs you’ll find in other tents.

6. Can I charge my gear inside the tent?

Yes! The Phoenix 1.3 includes a built-in 12V power system with USB, USB-C, and a cigarette socket, so you can keep your phone, lights, or other small devices charged — even off-grid.

7. Does it come with an Anderson plug?

It does — already installed. Just plug straight into your vehicle's 12V system or external solar setup. Easy and reliable.

8. How’s the lighting inside the tent?

There’s a full 360° warm white LED light strip built into the roof. It gives off a clean, even glow — perfect for setting up at night or just relaxing.

9. Can I load gear onto the cargo rails?

Yes — the cargo rails are rated for 30kg, ideal for strapping down recovery gear or a small storage box. The struts are designed to lift with that weight still on top.

10. Is the tent well ventilated?

Definitely. All openings are fitted with midge-proof mesh, so you get proper airflow while keeping bugs out. There's also a screened window above the main door for added ventilation and condensation control.

11. Why does the Phoenix 1.3 use a flexible solar panel?

We use a Roam Gear 300W flexible solar panel because it mounts flush with the shell, keeping the profile low and clean — no bulky brackets, no added wind resistance, and no risk of damage from low branches while off-roading.

It’s lightweight, aerodynamic, and perfect for rooftop setups. Best of all, it delivers a guaranteed 300W output and comes backed by a 5-year warranty, so you can rely on it for years of off-grid power.

12. Can I lock it?

Yes — the Phoenix comes with stainless steel lockable latches to keep it secure when you’re away from camp or on the road.

13. What are the dimensions?

  • Open: 211cm (L) × 131cm (W) × 148cm (H)

  • Closed: 211cm (L) × 131cm (W) × 18cm (H)

  • Mattress size: 205cm × 120cm × 75mm

14. Can I leave bedding inside?

Yes, you can. You’ll fit a full blanket and up to 4 slim pillows inside when closing the tent. If you’ve got thick pillows, we recommend taking them out.

Firefly Outdoors 270 Awning – FAQs

1. Will the 270 awning fit my setup?

Yes! Our awnings are designed to mount to most roof racks, canopies, and platforms using the included stainless steel brackets. If you’ve got a standard roof rack or platform system, you're all set. Need help checking? Just reach out — we’re happy to help.

2. Is it freestanding?

Yes — both the 2m and XL models are freestanding with 5 built-in drop-down legs. It sets up quickly, but if the wind picks up or you're leaving camp, it’s a good idea to drop the legs and tie it down — just in case the weather changes.

3. How waterproof is it?

Very. The canvas is 280GSM ripstop, PU-coated, and rated to 3000mm waterproof. It handles heavy rain easily, and with 4 rain arms and tie-down points, water drains off smoothly.

4. Does it come with lighting?

Yes — both awning sizes come with 4 integrated LED strip lights that plug into USB. You can choose amber or white light depending on your setup or to help reduce bugs at night.

5. How strong is the frame?

The frame is built with black powder-coated aluminium arms, stainless steel bolts, and a fully welded backplate — no rivets here. It's designed for long-term use in rugged conditions.

6. How much coverage does it provide?

  • 2m model: Up to 13.8m² of wrap-around shade

  • 2.5m XL model: Up to 23.5m² of full 270° coverage

7. Does it come with mounting gear?

Yes — we include heavy-duty stainless steel mounting brackets and hardware to suit most canopy, roof rack, and platform systems.

8. What material is the bag made from?

The outer bag is made from 550G PVC, built tough to handle dust, rain, and road grime over the long haul.

9. What are the packed dimensions and weights?

  • 2m model: 220cm x 20cm x 24cm – Weight: 30.6kg

  • 2.5m XL model: 270cm x 20cm x 24cm – Weight: 35.2kg

10. Can I install it myself?

Yes — installation is simple if you’ve got the right roof rack setup, but you will need assistance from another person during the install. These awnings are solid and do weigh a bit, so having an extra set of hands helps.

11. What kind of warranty is included?

We back all our awnings with a 12-month warranty, covering any manufacturing faults or material issues.
